Pull String Tops

Image

These wooden pull-tops were turned from a classic toy design.  The handle blanks were drilled at right angles – a 3/4″ hole through one side, and a 3/8″ hole at right angles to the 3/4″ holes.  The shaft or stem of each top also has a 1/8 hole in it to allow the tip of a shoelace to fit through it.  The stem of the top is fitted into the 3/8″ hole. The tip of the shoelace is inserted into the stem in the 3/4″ hole and wound around the shaft by rotating the top.  When the handle is held in one hand and the other hand pulls briskly on the wooden toggle, the top spins and falls out, continuing to spin on a flat surface.  A great gift for grandchildren.
