The deer flies are out. Mullien stalks bear scattered yellow blossoms. Jewelweed is in flower. Water lilies bloom. Meadowsweet and steeplebush are in flower. Catalpa trees flower. Evening Primrose is in flower. Indian Pipe can be found in woodlands. The Praying Mantis is active. Gray tree frogs, katydids and meadow crickets call. Nighthawks buzz on a sultry evenings. The Tiger Swallowtail butterfly is attracted to thistles, milkweeds, and tiger lilies. Screech owls may be vocal. Young redtail hawks are learning to hunt.
